Together with funders Aviva, Development Securities has now received planning permission for two further office buildings on the development. Designed by architects Allies and Morrison, the two new buildings are set perpendicular to each other around a new landscaped garden.
The last piece of the puzzle
The buildings will provide a total of 32,300m² of office accommodation over 10 and 13 storeys for Four and Five Kingdom Street respectively. The garden will link with an existing open space at Sheldon Square completing the last piece of the puzzle in the overall development masterplan.
Orientation responsive solar shading has been integrated on both buildings to restrict the amount of unwanted solar gain and to reduce the carbon impact of the buildings.
‘Excellent’ BREEAM rating
Commenting on the buildings’ strong environmental credentials, Trevor Farnfield, Project Director for Roger Preston & Partners, said, “The buildings have been designed to exceed Part L of the current Building Regulations and meet the draft 2010 requirements whilst achieving an ‘Excellent’ BREEAM 2008 rating.”
Roger Preston and Partners provided environmental and building services advice whilst Roger Preston Dynamics undertook specialist vertical transportation consultancy.
