Working with client Allied London Properties Ltd and architect Sheppard Robson, Roger Preston & Partners helped deliver the 55,000m2 development to a Category ‘A’ standard. The commission also included environmental analysis of the distinctive building façade.
Energy saving measures
The building services systems in the offices incorporated energy savings measures such as heat recovery and intelligent lighting control. As a consequence, the development has been awarded an ‘Excellent’ BREEAM rating by the Building Research Establishment. BREEAM is the UK’s most widely accepted method for evaluating the environmental performance of buildings.
Roger Preston Fire was the fire engineering consultants for the development and Roger Preston Dynamics advised on vertical transportation.
Winner in ‘commercial workplace’ category
The scheme won in the ‘commercial workplace’ category at the BCO awards ceremony, which was held at the Royal Armouries in Leeds on 22nd April. As a regional winner, the project now goes forward to compete at a national level in the 'Best of the Best' Award. The result will be announced at a national dinner to be held in London during October.
One of the BCO's primary objectives is to define excellence in office space. The annual awards programme provides public recognition for top quality design and functionality and highlights examples of best practice.
Outstanding environmental performance
Director for Roger Preston & Partners, Trevor Farnfeld, comments, “Winning this award is a great honour and is testament to the outstanding environmental design of the building. We are proud to be playing a central role in the continuing success of Spinningfields in Manchester.”
