Designed by
MAKE architects for Bellhouse Joseph and the Carlyle
Group, the scheme at 11-19 Monument Street will contain
14,470 square metres of space. The vast majority of
which will be offices that can easily be divided with
single or multiple tenants for each floor.
A museum area
about the Monument is also included in the building
with its own dedicated entrance. On the roof there will
be landscaped gardens, open to both the occupiers and
the public, which offer one of the largest open spaces
in the City of London.
The building
is most notable for the complicated rippling glass frontage
that will be lit up by the floodlights from the Monument.
Roger Preston
& Partners provided full Mechanical & Electrical
consultancy advice to MAKE together with specialist
advice on Vertical Transportation, Fire Strategy and
Environmental Issues.
The building
is expected to achieve an 'Excellent' BREEAM rating
and to improve on current Building Regulations carbon
performance by at least 20%. The building also utilises
aquifer source heat pumps.
