Roger Preston & Partners’ design is a sympathetic
balance of integrating a modern office environment with
the need to preserve the historic features.
The building, an Edwardian crescent terrace, was originally
built in 1917. The structure and elements of the interior,
including fireplaces, plasterwork and the main staircase
are all Grade II listed. A challenge has been to knit
new elements of the building services and structure into
the existing building.
The design of the building will support a major kitchen
facility and has provision for a dealer floor. Treatment
of the retained façade is in compliance with building
codes and the use of new cores, atrium and central services
ensures that the demands of today’s modern office
market can be met.
Roger Preston Fire has been responsible for the building’s
fire strategy analysis whilst Roger Preston Dynamics has
designed and procured the lift provision.
