One of the biggest
challenges was the decanting of 130 staff from an office
of around 1,300m² to one of just under 1,000m²,
with the added challenge of flexibility for growing
staff numbers to meet increased workloads. The
drivers were to create more usable area together with
a sense of increased space and light. This was
achieved by removing false ceilings and installing state-of-the-art
bespoke chilled beam comfort conditioning. By
reconfiguring the central plant, a usable loft space
was generated to create an airy ‘studio' together with
a dedicated server room.
The sense of
space and light was further enhanced by using modular,
bench-style, work stations with frosted glass screens.
The building is mainly open-plan with a large resource
area, individual quiet booths and flexible conference
room spaces.
The building
utilises multi-service beams with sophisticated lighting
control and a fully integrated building management system
to optimise comfort and minimise energy use.
Networked systems allow for future expansion and combine
IT and telephone networks to enhance flexibility.
