Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London

Client: RADA
Architect: Avery Associates

RADA's existing building on the site (situated between Malet Street and Chenies Street off London's Tottenham Court Road) has been 75% demolished and rebuilt to improve space usage. This has required lowering the basement to accommodate the workshop with a clear height requirement of 5.0m for scenery building and painting.

New sprinkler water storage tanks and pumps are in a sub-basement to avoid compromising theatre space.

Productions by the students are made every term. Many of these are open to the public.

Features:
Three fully functional theatre spaces (including one with a proscenium)
Malet St. foyer and rehearsal room also suitable for public performances
Full theatre back-up including workshops for scenery construction etc. in basement
Theatre spaces will be suitable for commercial letting as well as their prime use of teaching, acting and theatre technical staff
